This Is (From) America

This Is (From) America is a single channel 6:15 minute long video performance art piece that serves as a reclamation of the stolen identity of foods endemic to the American continent that are now part of new cultural identities in the Old World.

The piece is part of a larger project called Pro Mundi Beneficio, which addresses the impact that colonialism still has on contemporary society by researching Mesoamerican plants and their influence on the creation of new cultural identities in the Old World.

People Like Me

People Like Me is a single channel 5-minute long video performance piece adapted from my own poetry that explores homophobia, conversion therapy and familial relations.

The piece is part of a larger project called A Queer Mind is a Resilient Space, in which I revisit episodes of my life growing up queer in Panama as a way of releasing pent-up emotions that have been repressed for 30 years by my brain’s coping mechanism.

Colonial Entanglements

Colonial Entanglements is a 4-channel video performance art piece in loop that explores the impact that colonialism still has on contemporary society. By wrapping everyday objects using my phototextile artefacts and sisal rope, I intend to highlight how innovation in Europe is inextricably linked to the extraction of resources and labour from colonial territories.

The piece is part of a larger project called Colonial Entanglements, a series of sculptural objects in which I hope to start conversations around how all the things that we have access to in the Global North are possible thanks to the resources that have historically been extracted from the Global South as part of the European colonisation project.

White Passing

White Passing is a 4-minute single-channel video performance art piece that explores the idea that mixed-heritage people are not affected by racial attacks because their features make them invisible to race discrimination.

The video contains re-composed audio elements recorded during the far-right rallies and anti-asylum protests in the UK between 2024 and 2026.
